In my opnion the conditions determin what you are throwing.
While growing up we spent lotsa time im POC.
This was back when you wished you would see another boat just in case something bad happened.
The ol man only allowed 2 baits on the boat, a gold ( weedless ) spoon and a strawberry kelly wiggler.
Early in the morning we would wade in knee deep grass casting to busting and tailing reds = weedless spoon.
After we had our limit I remember throwing those dern kelly wigglers to trout until it hurt, then I would switch back to the spoon to give my arm a rest. Never been much of a sprite guy, I did rebel one day when we were wading a sandy flat. On one of those POC days I got my limit before the ol man. When he came by in the boat to pick me up he asked what color kelly wiggler I was using, I showed him my Johnson Sprite. He just shook his head.

I had a chat with Mudskipper about spoons yesterday. He likes to take the treble off and tie a short leader and then reattach the hook with tout or bait and drag them along the bottom. The spoon gives the flash along with a little mud/sand streak. I picked up a couple sprites so I can give it a try.
I'd also think the nemire spoon with the rattle would be something worth trying.

What kind of spinnerbaits are you guys using? Those stike king one's with the paddle tail plastics? Or something else? Do you put Gulp on them?

Also, you just use steady retreave with those spinnerbaits, like in bass fishing right? Or do you let them sink when you hit sand pockets in the grass? Etc.?

                            Bobcat,

Try those and replace the tail with a 2" Gulp Shrimp. I like the new penny and they work well. Steady retrieve with an occassional rip if I'm getting bored. Also, use your pliers and bend the little fastener around the wire to keep it from opening with a fish on.

" you won't catch trout on that thing".....A minute later I caught a 21"er!
