  • Corky Devils

Corky Devils from Paul Brown come pre-rigged w/ a single bottom trebble hook, but are expensive. There are several knock-offs that are available but are not pre-rigged. Does anyone know how to rig one of these baits with a single hook? I only use circle hooks on all my artificials (I don't keep ANY fish-just like to catch 'em)-might miss a few, but feel these hooks aid in catch and release.

Just change out the hooks, it's on a split-ring.

The ones that are un-rigged from the factory. Use a wide gap worm hook maybe?

Could just use a big J hook. Go to Marburgers and you'll find something

Yeah. Guess that's what I get for going CHEAP! Might try some offshore wire or something.

I misunderstood. If it's plain with no hook there are lots of ways as has been stated, a jig head, or maybe a carolina rig would be killer.

Like an idiot and thinking the wind would be 400 MPH today (as usual) I stayed home and replaced all the hooks on my top waters. I finally rigged that fake Devil w/ a wire (like a trolled ballyhoo) and I think it's going to work. Considering time and material it only cost me about $80 to get it right Think I'll just keep buying the factory models from now on. Liked the Carolina rig idea tho. Gonna rig a few like that too.

I've put a jig head and a weightless hook on some i got back when at paul's house . I had to put some super glue on the weightless one to keep it from pulling out . Best to spring for the pre-rigged devils as you said .
