you guys should really try to fish the bay at night during half/full moon. Its an experience you will never forget. I'll be doing that tonight in matagorda.

According to my high $ Casio (ha ha), the moon is 9.1 days old, waxing towards a full in about a week-2/3rds almost now. (casio fishing time-about $30 and lasts 5 years, gives solunar tables, sunrise/sunset and moon status and age/days). No, I don't own stock in casio - prolly should along with Coors.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

                  LOL you guys are funnee.

But Gilbert is right, sometimes the fish will rise on a bright moon and a favorable turn of the tide. Some like the spring tide which I forget is a few days before or after the full moon when the current flows faster (hint, hint, neap tides are no good). If you got some greenlights on your boat, or can throw one over the side, it's a TOTAL FLIPPIN' BLAST.

Sometimes the bait and shrimp come up and I've used topwaters with a great deal of success. Never tried the Day-Glo ones but ... hehe, might try that too. I just love the action of a plug or a she-dog junior. If they don't work, plenty of other ammo ... don't use dead bait, the shark and stingrays are feeding then. Don't know if it affects the surf as much as the bay, tho'.

yea,8ft bull shark.saw some bait balled up and headed that way. all the bait came out of the water as soon as i got to it with the shark in hot pursuit 10 ft from me. got back to the first bar and wachted him thrash around for 5 min.then moved down the beach. had a couple of good pulls on mullet but couldnt hook one.

It's a different world to fish at night . You better be really familiar with the area you are fishing....things look different at night.....hard to find your familiar landmarks . Best to take a buddy to be safe .
