What's your favorite reel for wading the surf?

My old Okuma Coronado was a decent reel but finally started seizing up on me last trip. I used it for years and soaked it in saltwater tons of times. I just looked and you can still order the newer style. I don't know if they're still as good.

Ice cream conditions see me using a modern, wide spool, ABU 6000 with 15lb test mated to a 8ft Allstar rod...never know when Mr. Jack or even a Ling will pay a visit at the second sand bar.

I'm seriously thinking about getting some of those H2O's for fishing the surf so that my good reels don't get jacked up from the suds. I've heard the reels are good and of I trash one, I won't shed a tear.

Do it. As long as you clean it up from time to time, it will be fine. I am going on 2 years. I just rinse it and oil regularly. Its a great reel. And for the $, you can't beat it. If it does lock up, no big loss.

Wading the surf, I use my same set up (Dawia Zillion) as wading the bay. Lazy fishing with a surf rod, I use an Ambassdor.
