  • West End fishing camp question

Hello to all. I am a new member here and am looking forward all the great people and info available here. My question is: Does anyone here know where the "Lufkin Fish Camp" was located? My grandfather used to fish and hunt there back in the 40's and 50's. I do remember going out on Stewart Rd. to get there. Back then it seemed like it was the only camp around. I guess I'm telling my age now. Any info would be sincerely appreciated.

I wonder if it was at the end of 8 mile road. Only a guess because there used to be a bait camp there. Never heard of it tho. Interesting.

Interesting question for something like that. A quick web search turned up nothing for me.
Was it on the edge of land or out in the bay?
If you took Stewart instead of 61st I'm guessing it was along the Apffel park road on the east end. Just speculating.
            Good luck

Not that much different than a Karankawa indian hunting the shallows at night with a torch and a spear.

If you check out google earth there are historical images back to at least the early 60s ... Maybe even earlier. Maybe you'll be able to pick it out of an aerial pic. Good luck and welcome!
