First Post/ General West Bay Questions

Had a few questions in relation to a vacation I have planned the week after next. Mother in Law has rented a really nice place on one of the canals in Jamaica Beach. The plan is to bring my boat down and bump around fishing and cruising with the kids for the week. My general stomping grounds are Chocolate Bay/Bayou and my boat is at Lutes's.

The questions are regarding gas and, if available, live bait on the water in West Galveston. Just wondering what is going to be the most convenient location(s) to get both of these items in or around Jamaica Beach. Anything east of about Sea Isle on the island I am essentially clueless as to what resides in those canals.

Only gas is at Sea Isle unless ya wanna haul cans. bait is there also. Watch for JBPD boat and police-they go by the book-speeding on streets is a no no (may ticket ya for 34 in a 30), no wake in canals at all-just forward speed. West bay Bait and tackle-about 1/4 mile west of jamaica Beach on 3005 has bait also (Jerry and Becky). I prefer Sea Isle.

gas/bait are available at harborwalk also but further run.

FYI-go to Googlearth and look at it. watch out for Shell Island and Snake Island.

There is a Valero in the front of Jamaica Beach that you can trailer too. It's a pain due to the no wake zone, but it's a nice ride.
Take the advise given above and watch your speed on the roads. When you see the water tower on 3005, be ready for a quick slow down and a police officer.
