I was at a nearby green light making some bait last week for running lines. I have only seen squid twice in the bays since I moved to the coast, both times while gigging.
Well, low and behold, my favorite mollusk comes into the green light. A sand trout sees him and smashes him, and the poor thing inks and runs into a small clump of sargassum for cover.
He stays there for half a minute, so I figure I'll give it a shot. Snagged him with my crappie jig first try! Whoo hoo, never caught a squid before.
I did what any of ya'll would expect me to do, and dusted him with tony c's and seared him in olive oil. Good breakfast
