Carolina Rig for Redfish or Trout?

This maybe a bumb question but can you fish with a Carolina Rig like you do for bass the same way when we are fishing for Trout or Redfish? I have always thought about this but have never done it. I just wanted to ask some of you seasoned fishermen here about this.

That's how we rig live bait and it works great. The issue I've had with tails is that the wieght seems to hang up on everything. Good luck!
