  • Whats the "MAGIC" temp. to look for?

Just curious what everyones opinion is when it comes to finding consistant fish along shorelines and flats. I have caught a few fish wading this year but it was cold! Im taking the yak out wednseday. I want to hit the E. Matty shores, but can't decide if the water will warm up enough to be worth the longer trip.

Are you talking about indoor temp in July?

Anything above 55 to 58 and you will start seeing a lot more fish in the shallows. The bigger question is when does the food supply return to the flats?? That's what brings the predators up there.

We took a tour of the flats and there were some fish in the flats but no bait.We spotted some big red's as well as slot's.The water was a frigid 41 to 43 deg as we slipped in to the first spot.I like 70deg water temp!

The little warm-ups like we are getting this week are a welcome break from the frigid fishing we have had. Im tired of dressing up like the michelin man to go fishing. I've always noticed that the consistent spring fishing tends to get started just as baseball season kicks off.
