I bought this book (The Plugger) for my son a couple of years ago and am reading it now. The man was a legend and the lessons of catching a million pounds of fish and the stories of the Coast's past...well, I'll leave it at that. Check it out. It sure makes me understand differently how my dad fell in love with Texas coast fishing.

Guys, this is an absolute must read for any Texas coastal angler, expecially if you chunk lures. It provides a great historical perspective, and insight into what fishing has evolved into. There are still a handful of guys that either fished with that crew at least during that time frame that are a wealth of knowlege.
I have probably read the book at least 5 times and enjoy it equally every time I go back. Another one that you should check out and will find great value in is Pat Murray's "No nonsense saltwater fishing" (think that's the title). Pat was a guide in this area through the 90's who grew up on Tiki and was a true student of the sport. He relates a ton of great information about the bays up and down the coast with heavy emphasis on Galveston.http://www.theshallowist.com

Be nice to Chip and he will loan it to youOriginally posted by coachlaw View PostGotta get my hands on a copy.
Chip was nice enough to loan it to me and it was a great book, finally got it back to him a few months later.
By the way, our neighbor Loyd and Cookie Pepper fished with him and he was told me some good stories.

He also catches a pile of fish and takes some great pics in the process.
