Due to continued public interest in overall spotted seatrout population health, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Coastal Fisheries Division is obtaining public input on potential conservation measures for spotted seatrout as part of the annual statewide proclamation process. Coastal Fisheries staff would like input on how spotted seatrout are currently managed in Texas.

How bout a 7 trout limit? just a thought since its hard to catch 7 trout on a regular basis. Who knows?

I like down south were we have the 5-trout limit inside the passes and 10 trout in the surf. The limits didn't seem to affect the fishing all that much - many of the guides actually wanted the 5-trout limit because they make money on trophies and tournaments, not on a bunch of runts. Just sayin', it wasn't all that bad as I feared it could be here. Most of the guys are targeting reds anyway, and taking some trout on the side.

I won't say what's up the San Antone and Aransas Bay, which seems to me like you got some other factors up there. I recall lack of freshwater inflows, starving whopping cranes one year, bad summer water quality (with high levels of bacteria such as Vibrio), fish kills, and a possible lack of water excahnge because Cedar Bayou is still closed. I don't know what's happening to be honest, since down here it was just plain old fishing pressure and some pretty bad red tide.

Not sure if the upper coast and West End needs to be regulated yet. That's where you folks got to stand up for your rights.
