  • Howdy folks

I mostly surf Home Theater and Mustang Forums; this is my first Fishing Forum. My 8 yr old has found an interest in fishing and I realize I haven't fished in over 20 years...some friends at work guided me to 2cool and I migrated here.

Nice forum. Looking forward to learning (or re-learning) as much as I can so my boys and I can appreciate our time on the water. Life really is better outside!

    Thx,

    Tony

By the way, kids have a short attention span and nowadays with video games and such, are in need of immediate gradification. If nothing else, a big bag of fresh dead peeled shrimp on a number 8 treble hook with a split shot weight to keep it on the bottom off a pier or near some type of structure will keep him reeling in croakers, whiting, hardheads and such. No need to agonize finding 6 pound trout, just have fun catching anything and he'll have a blast. You can even pick up some flounder, reds and trout that way if you are lucky.

Thanks for the Welcome and the advice. Every bit helps.

My little one and I hit Chocolate Bayou, or atleast under the bridge, for a few hours a few weekends back. We caught a coke can, plastic bag, and some slimy looking twine...

We're planning on Quintana and Surfside next, then travel North up the beach.
