  • Returning to Galveston after Many years

I've never joined any blogs before but the occasion called for it. Glad to join what is obviously a group of seasoned veterans in the area. I need advice. My father raised me on these waters and is returning to celebrate his 90th birthday! I've been fishing out of Freeport & was too young to remember this area. He talks of Carancahua Reef & I want to know what's going on there now. Any advice, pointers etc.? I need a crash course please. The man is still fishing, dancing, bowling & hunting but has been in another part of Texas. HELP please!!

tell your dad happy 90th birthday! Probably best bêtise to get some live shrimp and rig it under a popping cork about 3 ft. And drift in that area. unless you/he are skilled in artificial baits, that's what I would recommend, JMO...

90 year ol active man as it appears your dad is, will still remember his favorite spots. Try showing him Google earth in those areas that he mentions. That's a great place to find some spots.

Good Luck to you both and spend lots of time talking with him.
Sure wish I had done more with mine!!

Yes, happy 90th and welcome aboard. We fished it a couple weeks ago and no luck. Was a lot of boats and noticed none of them were hooking up either. But, hey that was a couple weeks ago. Good luck and welcome aboard.

Yeah , booking with Aqua Pimp would give you the best chance for catching fish .

WOW, 90th birthday. That's fantastic and amazing. I'm hoping, praying I'll be healthy as your dad. That's 30 more years of fishing. With the Lords Blessing, I can make it, still have a good memory, and good health. Your dad is very blessed. Lord Bless.

Happy 90th to the old salt.

No disrespect, but I have to mention it.....you may want to consider handling your Dad's catches (netting and unhooking). Vibrio is out there at this time of year.
