Caught my first tailing Red while fishing Galveston years ago on vacations out of Dallas --until business took me to Virginia where nothing made my reel sing for a decade. Now my wife of 48 years and I have moved here -- her for Houston's medical specialists, me to fish as a reward for being her caretaker. Got a customized kayak now, living on the water's edge on Offatt's, but I still love to wade. Skunked so far on three tries the past two weeks in bad weather, I need some good advice. You see, I told Ellen I'd keep us in fish and cast-net shrimp because I'd done that while living in Corpus. So far no fish and no tips yet for shrimp. Anyway I don't expect any secrets posted here, but I wouldn't mind an informative message.

Thanks. I've yet to make it by Seawolf or Academy. Still unboxing. But great tips. So far I've only had tine to paddle around Moody and the Colonel. I've waded the airpirt and Sportsman. I'm told Offatts is good in colder weather, but now it's tine to get serious and get with sone of you guys.

Definitely not the right time of year to catch enough shrimp in the cast net to eat. Probably be May or June before you can pull that off. As to the fishing over there - Offats is a great spot in the winter - lots of deep holes and reefs. Get you some Corky fat boys and when it gets really cold go get em!Shut up and FISH!!

I propose a kayak outing with you and Curmudgeon to some of the sand bars off Offatts.
