Hello Everyone! My name is Dave Moss and I have been a member of the site for about 2 years, I figured it was about time that I introduced myself. I fish the lower Chesapeake Bay for speckled trout and redfish. I mostly wade and use the same techniques that you use in Texas, I call it Texas Techniques for Virginia Trout. I enjoy the site and it helps me get through this time of year since most of our trout have gone south for the winter. The only spot we can fish this time of year is the Elizabeth River. The ER is a very industrialized river but it holds some monster trout. We have some awesome trout fishing here and I would like to extend an invitation to any of you if you find yourself in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Tight lines!

Welcome aboard! Do ya'll have a flounder run similar to ours?
I get up to DC fairly regularly, but have not thought of the opportunity to fish the Chesapeake near the Maryland border. Have you ever fished that far north? At his baptism, Sam Houston was told his sins were washed away. He reportedly replied, “I pity the fish downstream.” - Nov. 19, 1854 - Independence, Texas

No, we don't have a flounder run like you have but they do stage up at the mouth of the bay along the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel but that is a deep water fishery. We had a great year on the trout this year they were caught way up the bay in Maryland waters! It is approximately 2.5 hrs to our area from DC so if you ever want to come down for a day trip just let me know. Our trout fishing will pick up around April and it goes into November or December it just depends on how fast it gets cold.Originally posted by Oleander Kayaker View PostWelcome aboard!
