Tide tables and solunar charts for Galveston Bay Entrance (South Jetty): high tides and low tides, surf reports, sun and moon rising and setting times, lunar phase, fish activity and weather conditions in Galveston Bay Entrance (South Jetty).
Try this site (above) for bite windows, tides, solunar information ... etc etc etc ... as fars as where, I'd recommend either hiring a guide to help you learn the water ... buddy up with someone on here, watch the reports, and think about the bottom structure. There are some maps you can buy that will break down the bay systems for you in terms of seasons and wind directions ... 10 bucks well spent ... http://www.hooknline.com/ and they're sold at all of the local sporting goods stores.
Technique ... isn't going to be much differnet.

X2 what everyone else said. The jetties are starting to heat up. I wont start fishing them until the end of May. May through August is my prime times for Trout for me. 30 to 40 Trout days by 8am is normal when the conditions are right. Free lined Shrimp is all I throw. Channel side typically works best for me and I like the North Jetty from the boat cut all the way to the end. Look for slicks and bait being busted next to the rocks. Anchor your boats close enough to the rocks as possible. Close enough to where you can get a free lined Shrimp within 2' of the rocks. Most of my Trout come within 5' of the rocks.
When anchoring up make sure your anchor catches before you kill your big motor. When changing spots crank your big motor before pulling anchor. When anchoring use at least 5 to 6' of rope for every every foot of water so your bow will rise with the ship wakes. When coming into a spot take a look at the other boats to see how they are positioned when they are anchored up. This will give you a good idea on tide direction and which way your boat will move once the anchor has been set. Sometimes it takes a few attempts to get your boat positioned just right.
Good luck

If you have room for my wife and I, any sunday would be great. We live and work in Cypress, too darn
far from the water for us to be. We were 10 minutes from the Gulf in Fla. We fished at least 4x a week
and had a blast. PM me with some info, we'll see if we can't go git a few !!

Hey Silver Wolf, I like to fish with both actually. It all depends on what I'm going for, where i'm fishing,
tide flow, water color and temp. Arties are fun for myself, fishin in the surf or the mouth of a pass.
My wife and I used to tear up trout fishing the mouth of Johns Pass, Maderia Beach, Fla. Only using
MirrOLures MirrOdine® 17MR 2-5/8 3/8oz in Silver. Other than that, I liked to use Berkley® Gulp!® Saltwater Jerk Shad
in Nuclear Chicken...

Hey FP10, actually I'm a New England Fan, even tho the Bucs didn't do too bad while I was there.
The Snook took a bad hit, two years ago. It got so cold all the way down to Ft. Myers, that it killed
off thousands of fish, bad fish kill that year. They are comming back, but all fisherman are avoiding
them until they are back in strong numbers. The tarpon Tourny down off Sanibel Isl is crazy, so many
boats in the water, one can walk across and not get wet. I did have one Tarpon on, back in 09, down
in Windley Key one summer. Light gear, just fishing for whatever might be there under a bridge.
What a surprise on 20lb Fins line!! He took off for Cuba and did not stop. He spit my lure thank God
.
