Welcome ! You are changing from bait to lures this weekend ? As in "always use live bait now only using lures"? WOW, Did you hit the Lottery ?
I recently blew the dust of my boat and took up fishing again after a 7yr midlife crisis to be a biker for a while.
It took 8 months to get everything back to like new condition and couldn't find my lure bags under the dust. I almost had to break into the college fund and 401K to re-stock ☺

Wish I did LOL but not yet. Working on the lotto. Was a potlicker for years and now converting LOL. Did hit as I feel almost the lotttey at Academy. Found a bunch of rigged DOA shrimp in 1/8 and 1/4 oz in 3" size, 3 to a pack for a steal. 2.50 a pop bought them out and a few other things that were on sale. So now going to try them out in the morning. I hear you on the dust part. It was 10 years for me when blew dust off and winning a boat off a football pot got me back into it sooner. The gulp is the break into college and 401k fund. Like gold that stuff is LOL

                      x2 x3 x4 x5 !!!

Top waters are a blast learn to walk the dog with them and you're set. He's right, they probably won't catch as many fish but they will catch quality fish!!! Remember too when wading new spots top waters are one of, if not the best fish locator. If you're not getting swipes there's a good chance the game fish are not in that area or they are not feedin!

                      Welcome!
I set my hook like I am fishing for tuna even if I am fishing for trout. Call me tuna Joe!

welcome!! get some cocahoe minows, one of the best soft plastics around and easy to use.throw it out reel it in at differnt speeds until you find what they want.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

Welcome...I was a live bait guy when I lived in Florida...I wish I would have tried lures when I was there. I grew up right near the Indian River and Mosquito lagoon...some very nice reds and trout come out of those two bodies of water...and all I ever did was soak live bait...I missed out. Since my arrival in Texas I have crossed over to artificial. A whole new world but very exciting and for sure a learning experience. Before you know it your tackle box will be fully loaded lol
