As some of u know i have a 1988 18ft alweld semi v with a 1978 evinrude 70 hp. The boat needs new deck, needs to be rewired and a broken off bolt taken outta the lower unit. So i have a guy that wants to trade me straight up for a 1997 carolina skiff 16' with a 86 johnson 75hp it runs nothing wrong with ot except the choke. Does this seem like a good trade for me? ?

I'm a big fan of the carolina skiff. That sure seems like a whole lot of motor for a 16' but I guess it can be done.

        Re: Opinions

Not sure on the skiff mine is like 50" or so. I looked at it as in its gonna cost me $500 - $1000 to get mine all done how i want it and with the wife and i tryin to have a kid aint no tellin when ill actually get it done ( medical expenses) so i figured it would be good to trade ffor one that is water ready . Plus its only 2 ft when most of my fishing will be 2-3 people i aint too worried .And yeah that 75 seemed big to me too lol but watever!

I say trade if it is solid as Paul said. Just run it and check it out real good.

Yeah im sure itll need some $ to get it how i want it but im also sure itll be less than a grand! ! And it wierd i would think it would haul too i asked him he said its not that quick cause it has a 4 blade prop?!?! Which like i said i have am not that knowledgeable about boats so i have no clue why that would make it slower lol. But u can ride when ever !!

Check the lower unit out-open the drain plug and see if solid oil. Run the motor-get a compression check on the cylinders. Not much to a CS-no wood, so no transom rot-look for stress cracks, hole repairs-look at wiring-if a spagetti bowl, you know you will have issues and need to rewire but even that should be easy.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

Fall is in the air and time for a boat. Located me a skiff in Corpus I'm fond of. Sold my 16' jon last summer and although my passion is wading the surf and coves I pining for some transport. Good old Craigslist to the rescue again.
