I have 2000 90 mercury 2 stroke. It has started making a ticking noise when I get on the trottle. It also has water shooting out of a small hole under the cowling. I dont know if the water is normal because i have never noticed it before

That's t stat housing. Need to pull compressions see if you have cyl problem

I ran it this morning and it did good running wide open but started sputtering during idle then It died and I never could get it to start again. It turns over just would not start. Could this be related to the ticking noise or just a separate issue

It's actualy the pop-it valve, not t-stat. Need to replace imediately
