The unions refuse to give up tenure for pay. Ask any teacher worth their salt if they would take 140K per year if they could be done with the union and see what they say.

    http://teachersunionexposed.com/protecting.php

It’s difficult even to entice the unions to give up tenure for more money. In Washington, D.C., school chancellor Michelle Rhee proposed a voluntary two-tier track for teachers. On one tier teachers could simply do nothing: Maintain regular raises and keep their tenure. On the other track, teachers could give up tenure and be paid according to how well they and their students performed with the potential to earn as much as $140,000 per year. The union wouldn’t even let that proposal come up for a vote, however, stubbornly blocking efforts to ratify a new contract for more than three years. When it finally did come up for ratification by the rank-and-file, the two-tier plan wasn’t even an option.

But that's okay by me cause I listen and watch them daily myself.

Texas ranks number 30 in the United States as far as teacher salary, according to the National Education Association's 2013 Rankings of the States survey. Texas teacher salaries are slightly lower than the national average (which is -0.1 percent), resting at -0.5 percent also according to the NEA.
The housing market is the big factor. Along with sales tax vs state income tax. And also medical and retirement.
      3 people don't make a statement a fact.
Levine is solid and Berry is good when he sticks to local issues. The rest are "meh" to bad. No, I do not listen to them on a regular basis. I am quite capable of thinking and doing for myself. No need to have others tell me what to do and where to work.

I know the GOP is supposed to be the conservative party, but most members are not. Sure they stick up for social issues that are considered conservative, but as far as their ideas on how governments should be ran, they fail.

And on to the teacher's pay. You completely ignored the qualifier that Texas has a very low cost of living. Their pay may be half a percentage point lower than the national average (which I already said was true before you found the exact number), but our cost of living more than makes up for it. Hence the example "$45k goes further in Texas than $65k does in California." Also, I didn't give you three examples, I gave you five first hand examples from three different states. All three states are pro-union and typically left leaning according to voting results. While my five examples don't make a fact, they certainly support it. Also, if I was to play devil's advocate, my wife, her family, nor I have met a teacher leaving Texas for "greener pastures." Certainly people leave for personal or societal reasons, but improving net worth is not one of them.

Yeah im sure the state of texas or any other state would be willing to pay a public teacher 140000.
Seniority has great value and along with years of service more wisdom and intelligence.
Ive experienced companies getting rid of older emplyees to hire younger ones for less money. Educators will face the same in a right to fire state

I did note about other wages and benefits which is part of total income which is health insurance and the biggy retirement or pension
Ask the 3 people about that
Face it, we will never agree about right to fire
I love unions and you love believing that you are in control of your workplace
And Kenny, if you are over 35 and and born in the USA and conservative and want to remain in dark ages, hell yeah you can be president.
After all, we've had a second rate ex democrat movie star for one, worse one we ever had.

I think I have erased more than I have actually posted. Although, you mods do have a longer leash compared to most other internet forums.
