I ve read some of Sowells books and he is just another far rightster and extremist. He is not mainstream America and neither is the TPers. The next elections will stop all this nonsense and our country will head where the moderate Americans want her to go. And he is black also as our president. But I don't hate him. And once again I refuse to use name calling and claiming everyone is communist or socialist. The only way the ACA will be tossed if the RINO's get back in office of all 3 branches. That aint gonna happen no matter how much you decide to rant and rave how terrible it is. 40 million uninsured will love it!!

So after 40 something times of trying and failing to make the law of the land not a law anymore and they still want to use that as a negotiable issue then who are the real non negotiators ? It aint Reid or our President!! Its a minority of far right republicans holding our great country financially hostage for them to prove that they are patriots and liberty seekers for the rest of us !!! Over a bunch of petty little wants or dreams.
And I do like your idea of making ALL americans have to have insurance under the ACA. That puts us all closer to a single payer system for health care and your hatred of so called socialism!! If I were you , you better rethink what you are asking of our congress members. Originally the ACA DID required congressmen to be under the ACA. The issue on that is their supplemental payments or entitlement to help pay some of the costs. If you work for an outstanding capitalistic business you probably get assistance on your medical policy after paying a small fee to your employer also. So what do you really want ? What I want is to open OUR government back up for business, pay our bills to keep the world financially stable and then work on budget items and negotiate on what the American people want or need to make this a better country. And not held hostage by a bunch of power seeking politicians that are only interested in getting reelected and hurting the legacy of this countries 1st black president.

China is making a move toward the Chinese Yuan /Renminbi becoming the world reserve currency because of our 17 trillion dollar, ever increasing spending and debt. "If something can't go on forever, it won't."

Back on Jerry's original topic........the house TEA PARTY and other Republican (80) members signed a petition to CLOSE THE GOVERMENT over the ACA and NOT ONE Democrat endorsed the proposal. They are the ones all of us can thank for the 24 BILLION DOLLAR DAMAGE TO OUR ECONOMY, the lost wages to more than 800,000 government and private sector workers (although NOW some will get back pay for this idiocy, thankfully), etc., etc. etc.. Ask a NASA worker how he/she feels about this shutdown. ALL economists believe that the damage this ridiculous folly will cost us hundreds of thousands of jobs, global standing throughout the world, higher interest rates and a weaker recovery. Pushing the country to the debt limit for a ideological policy doomed to failure from the start was a tactic of the REPUBLICAN PARTY dominated by the extreme Tea Party members of their caucus. Now while I agree with the Tea Party on many of their stances to reduce government spending, it seems odd that as soon as they were elected into the majority in most red states, their FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS was to attack women's rights to safe and legal abortions and health care, restrict access to contraception and insert themselves into a woman's consultation with her doctor (a fundamental mantra they profess to "keep the government out of our personal lives".) Their SECOND ORDER OF BUSINESS was to purge voter rolls of Democrats and restrict voter rights through voter registration and other back-handed legislation designed to assure victory for their party. Where are the members I met at some of the rallies I went to? Not one mention of these ideals were mentioned...it was about reducing taxes and government spending and job creation, all noble ideals. Too bad the Koch brothers hijacked your movement. The Tea Party is a failing strategy (as is far left wing ideology) and the voters will have their say in the coming elections and purge our country of extremists whose only negotiating tactic is "my way or the highway".
