Bzzz. Wrong.Originally posted by mgstei1 View PostThe Sarin Gas chemicals to make the gas were supposedly sold to Assad by Britain.

I've read that the al-queda faction of the resistence may have done it to bring the u.s. Into the war to topple the government . Then they can take over the country . They say why would the government gas those people when they have the upper hand , russia on their side , and risk crossing the "red line " ? Has some validity . Have they gotten any definitive proof who did the deed ?GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.

The licenses were needed to export and they were rescinded 6 months later. Please note I said supposedly. The receiving companies have remained secret. Supposedly the chemicals are used in aluminum metal cleaning in windows and fixtures and in smaller percentages to make bug sprays. So an assumption can be made that any licenses prior to the start of the Syrian skirmish were issued and chemicals sent. My mistake was stating that Britain sold the chems to Assad. It was a company to company exchange. Someone knows but it will never be us. And at this point don't matter. 400 kids were suffocated after uncontrolled urine and feces elimination along with sever nausea and vomiting and no control of any of their bodies muscles."Nobody's so poor that somebody can't get rich screwing 'em."

It've been really stupid for the Assad government to do it. As Plugger states, they had the upper hand and were "winning".
Seemingly, there is alot of intelligence that tends to point to Assad (the Germans, today, say Assad).
The Scientific American site has an interesting blurb on origins of the gas (home-brew or military grade).

I'm not really for the bombing of Syria or really any kind of intervention however, if we were to go over there it needs to be with full force. No reason to bomb a country from our recliners, honestly can 90 days of random bombing really do much difference over there. It will most likely reduce the chemical warfare (which is criminal, disgraceful, shameful, and ultimately unacceptable), but stopping the infiltration of an evil, misguided force into power will require more than just (I'll say it) cowardly bomb strikes and chicken$**T warfare. So if we were to go into Syria, I believe we should go in there with multiple pairs of boots, vehicles, intelligence, humanitarians, doctors, and freedom fighting soldiers to successfully get the mission completed. Having said that I would still vote nay."Our most great and glorious achievement is to live our life fishingly"

Let's just send Obama there and let him talk to his Fellow Brethren. Once all his buddies come together, they'll realize that Obama is always right and lay down their weapons and all chant "Hope & Change". ****, it worked here, so WTH. He can promise them Redistribution of Wealth, give em free cell phones and free High Speed Internet, plus WIC Cheese and no IDs to vote and open the Border of Syria to allow the illegal immigrants in to collect Social Security and get free edumacations-all at the expense of the taxpaying Syrian Citizens (probably less than 47%)."Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

I'm glad none of that happens here. That would be a government buying votes with taxpayer money. A VERY un-American idea.Originally posted by Robalo View PostLet's just send Obama there and let him talk to his Fellow Brethren. Many Americans today feel a sense of dismay and horror as we see our country in a downward spiral; both economically, morally, and politically. President Obama’s indifferent attitude and the continuous list of scandals and bad policy is leading the country to ruin.
As an artist I am reminded of the old saying “Nero fiddled while Rome burned.” History believes that Nero himself may have set the great fire that burned a part of Rome during his leadership. Afterwards, he blamed it on the Christians who suffered great persecution under his rule. I see great similarities to what we are experiencing today. Obama fiddled, while the people witnessed the demise of America. At his baptism, Sam Houston was told his sins were washed away. If we don't send our "Secret Weapon" (Obama of course), then I say let them all kill each other, including the "future terrorists". Why intervene at all? Let them all die. IMO-it's like asking what would happen if an aggie jumped off the UT Tower-who the heck cares!!
Heck, why not do a aerial drop of weapons and ammo to both sides? Ridding the Al Queda and Hezbollah is a Win Win for the USA and likely the Middle East. Let the flies and maggots take care of them instead of more taxpayer money wasted on a country that is in a civil war and both sides hope the USA and its people die a slow and miserable death since we are "infidels"."Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. Regarding the use of the word idiot to describe you. I just didn't have any choice. You forced me into it. There are stronger words that fit, but this was the least incendiary. Your world view is so skewed. You seem so brainwashed. You seem to lack any thread of common sense. What other word could fit and be "nicer"? You can call me an idiot, and it won't hurt my feelings. I've been called worse.Originally posted by gus12343 View PostI'm not really for the bombing of Syria or really any kind of intervention however, if we were to go over there it needs to be with full force. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who is not appalled at the use of chemical weapons. It doesn't make a difference to me if it killed children, teens, adults, or the elderly. It's just plain aweful no matter the age of the victims. That being said, it appears that we do NOT have any undeniable proof which side used them. If and when that comes could change things, but it seems like a setup to me. Remember, even Democrats wanted into Iraq on the basis of our WMD "intelligence". Then when little was found, they turned around and played politics with it as if they hadn't agreed based on the intelligence. Syria is a much different situation than Afghanistan or Iraq. It appears to me that this little powder keg could begin WWIII in earnest. Of all the countries to be leading a charge, the French are the least likely since Napoleon lost at Waterloo. If they want to dip thier wick in that powder keg, let them. I think Obama should steer clear of the situation entirely. His administration has done a fairly poor job dealing with existing issues in a generally wimpy, and often criminally negligent manner. Libya speaks for itself and Egypt . . . . why are we still illegally giving them military aid after the coup? Now he wants to carry the big stick. Voting nay on any intervention is the first sensible thing you've said since you got on here. Squirrel, nut . . . well, you know.

Well, here's some egg on my face, I got confused between gus and mg. So gus was the one making sense. Now that figures. I was astonished that something sensible had emitted from his fingertips. Sorry gus, didn't mean to lump you in with him. Too many numbers in all these new callsigns. LOL! What a long day. From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook.
