I feel sorry for those who lost anyone to this latest horrible tragedy last week.

Outlawing semi-automatic rifles and pistols has no bearing on the number of sickos out there that we don't know about. If one has a mind to do harm to another, he will find a way with some kind of weapon; knife, bat, etc. There are too many guns out there now to make a difference anway.Unfortunately, the family may have ignored his problem and there lies the problem. I feel like they should have taken precautions for any incident like this to happen. You never know what will set someone off.

Outlawing assult rifles will not solve the mental problems of anybody.

I hope the goverment does not pass a ban on these weapons. I would hate to see the carnage caused by the government trying to confiscate eveyone's semi-automatic rifles and shotguns...

Interesting article you posted a link to. Thinking about the "Gun-Free Zones" being a magnet for some sick mofo makes sense. The author states that the sicko at Aurora chose that theater because it was a gun-free zone theater and others closer to his residence were not and being the chickenshiiit basterd he was, he chose the one theater that would not have anyone shooting back at him. Hmmmm. Perhaps we should rid the leftist Gun-Free Zone Signs and allow CHL carry by Teachers and Administration-certainly it could lessen the amount of carnage/murders by some sick focker and perhaps the sicko would not target schools where innocent children are???

As a kid, I do not recall one shooting incident in any school-of course guns weren't allowed by students anyway-you were suspended or expelled-depending on what caused the school to find out a gun was present on a student, but there were not signs saying "GUN FREE ZONE". Most every kid carried a pocket-knife (felony now) and I recall only one stabbing by a sick mofo that later tried to be a policeman (I think he wanted to kill someone really bad-Brad Pearson-hopefully he's dead). Pearson used a Bic Pen, not a knife, and stabbed a buddy of mine in the gut-buddy was fine, Pearson became a security guard later, since he couldn't pass the psych exams to be a police officer.

The events of last Friday were beyond horrific, it is sad that some out there use cowardice acts aginst those most cannot protect themselves.

That being said, it is obvious that the Left will use this tragedy to further chip away at our rights and freedoms. They will denegrate any any who speak against them as being for what happend.

We as sportsmen will be put in an awkward spot light for the time being as many who are uneducated concerning fire arms rail against them. Example being that not all "semi-automatic" weapons are "Assoult" weapons. Many who call for banning certain guns don't even know what guns they are talking about.

Our friends at the NRA will be put in a very uncomfortable light in the days to come. Cooler heads must be the order of the day.

As we all know, the times, they are a-changing. Maybe we need to look at other avenues of protecting the kids in school. I would be in favor of teachers/administrators taking CHL lessons only for instances such as these. One NEVER knows when another incident will happen, but it Is coming again, take that to the bank. I know all the problems with this will not be easy - concealing the gun, etc., but what other avenues are there if we are to positively defend/protect the innocent ones in their school, of all places. Again, several of these (in and out of school) would not have gone as far as they did if someone nearby had a CHL and did the right thing. Why do you think the bad guys always pick on innocent/vulnerable targets?

Great points by all. Cowards prey on the weak. I liked Treatso's link because it in effect said "Come here and kill" with the "Gun Free Zone" bullchip. Joe Horn shoots two POS and almost goes to jail, gets death threats and spent thousands defending another's property for his shooting criminals. The mindset of only guns kill people is absurd. People kill people-with guns, knives, bombs, poisons and hands. These sickos like Lanza will always exist-their family is partly responsible for their failure. Mother protected her son instead of getting him mental help-and that will occur again and again. Guns kill sickos-get one and get well acquaintyed with it -enough to shoot an intruder, rapist or sicko when you need to-otherwise, you will be another forgotten victim.

Initially, it was meant for us to arm ourselves from outside threats and invasion (I know , tyranny, etc. etc.)...now it seems we are just arming ourselves against ourselves....sad.

Bruce: No revolution or war was won by throwing water balloons or tickling.

Termo: We do and need to arm ourselves against "ourselves" if you include thieves, murderers, rapists and sickos as being part of "ourselves". Police are armed. Problem is ya dial 911 and are put on hold or it takes 15 minutes or so for an armed officer to arrive and by then you and your family may be dead already. I prefer to have the right to defend myself, family and property instead of beg and die from the madness of some sicko or thief/murderer.

I find Treatso's link of importance-if the author is correct, we have effectively put big old targets on places where the innocent are easy pickings by having "Gun Free Zones"-sad, but likely true and need to change to mindset from guns kill to guns defending ourselves from sicko cowards.

I agree with Rabolo 100% (SURPRISE!!!!!) I have for almost 8 years had a concealed weapons permit and carry almost every where I go (within reason). I will not give up my right to protect myself from nutbags until every criminal, burgular, rapist, etc. etc. for anyone. When they are all arrested or eliminated I will be the first to turn in my weapons.
I like to think of my self as an independent thinker...I would never sign some stupid pledge that gives me no right to change my mind, support any cause that restricts another person from his opinion, or back any law that takes away from my rights granted me by the constitution.
That said....I personally don't support the right for some idiot to go online or to a gun show and buy a assault rifle without a background check. I don't believe (assualt rifles) should be banned, but the constitution doesn't say anywhere they can't be regulated. I would like to hope that people that own these weapons use trigger locks or gun safes in their storage.
Last thought.....this tragedy in Connecticut has us all doing some serious soul searching, I think. We should be looking for answers that unite us, not seperate us. My suggestion is better education when it comes to gun use and possession. The more a person is educated on ANY topic the better he is likely to come to an understanding of the problem and the way to correct it. Food is good for you till you abuse it, drugs can cure you till you abuse them, religion can console you till you abuse it, guns can protect you till you abuse them...the list goes on and on. The problem with all the above are the people that the people that go to the extremes in anything may us responsible people pay for it, with our lives, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
