Any point that you can hang a ring on can be counted. So you just add up the points. 4 on each side makes an 8 point unlike new Mexico where you would call it a 4 point.

A ring? Thanks for the clarification! The first I heard of a ten point buck in Texas, I was looking for a monster! I thought it might be a difference between counting points on a mule deer as opposed to a white tail. Are the facial markings on the deer typical or is that a little unusual?
