Don't let the rain scare ya. I've killed em in the rain they don't care if its raining. Now tracking is another story. Better shoot straight.

One nice Doe in the cooler early, 15 yd shot she went 35 yd and dropped. easy recovery when you watch them drop. It has been raining hard since about 10 am but it can't dampen my spirts. First hunt with crossbow, she was hit before she heard it go off.
I may pass the afternoon hunt due to weather it looks like tomorow may be dry. I smell backstrap cooking!

Got rained on most of the weekend last weekend. Only got to hunt Sat morning and didn't see any of the deer Im after.

I'm going to war with em this weekend. Facepaint, mowhawk, battle cries, the whole 9. Haha!

2 spikes and a doe. HAvent seen any of the mature bucks Im after. The acorn crop is unbelievable this year and is keeping them back in the woods in the thick stuff. Feeders are turned way down and corn is still piling up underneath them. Im actually hunting back in the woods along trials and seeing more deer than at feeders. Our rut happens mid October where i hunt, so that, along with the acorn crop has them all scattered and off pattern. Makes for tough hunting so far this season.

I am hearing a lot about how much the abundance of green forage and acorns is effecting the the deer patterns.
At the first of September they were coming to my feeders in good numbers (Freestone county) since mid month the acorns have started falling, they are still coming but not as many. I hunted South Texas 2 weekends ago and there was very poor reaction to the feeders, alot of green vegetation. I only saw 3 does on a two day hunt on a good ranch near Freer. My sausage processor in Tomball went to the hill country last weekend, he told me that he saw deer walk across a corn fed road and not even stop to eat, he said too much green stuff. Opening day may be tough, but that week is usually my peak rut, so eveything changes when that kicks in. Good Luck.
