  • Anyone have a CHEAP deer hunting spot?

Does anyone have or know of a cheap deer hunting spot? I'm looking for a spot that has some decent bucks but don't want to spend a fortune. If anyone has some land they're willing to lease or let me hunt a few times this season for a small price or exchange for some minor ranch work, let me know. It would be more of a friendly gesture than a deer lease. There's so much land around this state that people own that they don't even hunt. Don't let it go to waste. It's hard enough for us young guys to get involved in the hunting and fishing world when it's getting harder and more expensive every year to do so.

I am very responsible and love the outdoors. Its just really hard to find someone willing to let me and my girlfriend, maybe a friend, hunt on their property. I'm willing to pay some money or do some work in exchange for a shot at a decent buck.

Especially two days before gun season opens... here is how to do it.
Find a Widow, trim her trees, prune her roses, till her garden, clean her gutters. mow every week, take her to the store every now and then.... Do this for 5 years and then, gently mention that those mean ole deer are eating the figs outta her trees and you might get a shot at a cheap deer hunt. Tell the story wrong and she will remember the time she saw a doe drinking water with a fawn and the whole deal is off.....

Just a thoght for you. TPWD have draw hunts every year. The draw is over now however there are some folks that dont show up for their hunts and you can hunt as a standby hunter. It's not easy but if you get on the website and call the parks folks they may tell you if they think there will be any openings. I have done this before and you can have a qaulity hunt for 50 bucks. Another option is to hunt the national forest. There are deer in the forest but there are also lots of hunters and it can be quite the scary place. Go during the week and take a GPS and walk at least a mile from the road. Go to the TWPD website and select public draw hunts. They will list all the parks hosting hunts and when the hunts will be conducted and the phone numbers of the park rangers.

          Good luck to you.

Drive down Nasa Rd 1 and as you are getting close to the big high rise condos, look to the left. Plenty of deer for everyone there. And they are free.

Check out Type II hunting lands in Texas -- TPWD has them on their web site. I think the permit to hunt there is 40 bucks or so and you have to wear an orange vest and hat. I used to hunt on them in college in east Texas when I didn't have any money for a lease. I shot quite a few deer but you have to be really cognizant of other hunters.
              Shut up and FISH!!
