I've been fortunate enough to harvest 2 bucks this year on my uncle's place in Dilley, TX.
Opening weekend I shot a nice management 8 pt. with my .270. Spread was only 14.5 in, but he was tall and somehow scored 130 with some change. Deer was 191 lbs and was aged at 6.5.

The week before Christmas, I played cat and mouse with a buck 3 hunts in a row trying to get a shot with my bow. Finally on the last morning, I stuck him at 23 yds by the rangefinder. The adrenaline rush I got from drawing back on that buck was almost as big as when I shot my first deer. It was incredible! He ran 60 yards and plopped; a nice 5 minute track. And so just as the 6 year old kid is "ruined for life" when he catches a 10 lb trout, so am I "ruined" by my first bow kill being a deer that scored 156 3/4. He had 16 scoreable points, a split left browtine, and a gnarly looking bent back G2 (it looks like a kicker in the picture but its actually the G2 bent backwards). Again, this deer wasn't very wide but he accrued 37 inches in mass alone, which is what gave him such a good score. He weighed 185 lbs. This one is definitely getting the shoulder mount. And as for now (and probably a long time), I can brag that my biggest buck ever was shot with a bow
(Oh and I know I'm ridiculously spoiled by the way....)
