  • Sunday 7/7 report

Well with the much higher tides and the crazy wind Sunday was not as good as the last few. I caught 3 undersized reds and one keeper at 24". The reds are still where they have been just scattered much more with all the water. Plus the wind kept me from being able to locate them. On a side note I missed a star worthy flounder. Was back in a drain when I felt the big thud. Stopped took a drink of my jack and coke...lifted the rod fish was still there. Took another drink, walked a few steps back because I was only about 3' from the fish. Made sure my stringer and net were not tangled then I set the hook....the fish didn't move right away so I was thinking oh crap a stingray then out of nowhere it takes off and heads up a marsh drain even smaller(about 2' wide). I start chasing it up this drain to where it opens up a little more. The fight is on and it hasn't stopped so I am pretty sure it isn't a stingray at this point. Then she comes to the the top of the water about 3'-4' from me looks at me says fu and spits the hook. My personal best is 26.5" 8.5# and this one looked every bit of that. No doubt in my mind she was over 7#. Didn't see her take off after that so I put on a gulp and dragged every bit of that opening with no luck. I know where she lives now so hopefully she will be there next time so I can get my boat and trailer.....

Sorry you missed that flattie, Jman. Rum and coke, huh? I didn't know you were old enough to drink!

Sounds like a good fish story, Jeremy. BTW, I like my new avatar if I could figure out what it is? Looks like you knocked over a walgreens to get that shot. If it's viagra , cuddles will tell you I don't need it, yet. lol.

Great report Jeremy. Been there and done that with the flounder. You'll get her next time. I was going to go Friday and Saturday. Weatherman sure knows how to tell the forecast. I can't be one, because I can't lie that good. Lord Bless.

wow...now that would be insane. I have always wanted to go to CA and catch about a 15# Halibut, somehow keep it whole and walk in at Seawolf with it during the flounder run, lol
