  • GISP, Take II

Well, that flounder I lost yesterday had me itching for a rematch. I hooked up with Siscokid down at the park about 3:40 and we started hiking. He'd never been there so I showed him around a bit. We hit Dana cove first and walked the geotubes for an hour or so. The water was gin clear and we didn't see any bait jumping, so we headed back to land and hiked a bit more to the bayou. We got in about 5 and at first it seemed awfully quiet. I started with a corky and Sisco was throwing tops. We started seeing a lot of movement in the water: mullet jumping, swirls and hits. None of them were interested in what we had to offer. I caught one rat red on a Gun Dog black w/ chart face. We kept at it working different columns to little avail. Finally, Sisco pulled out a bag of gulp and proceeded to chunk. He got a lot of good strikes, but none stuck. I never got much play after the little rat red. By 6:30 the wind was blowing pretty good and we decided to be done. Had a a nice walk back to our vehicles in the dark and fog. Nice evening on the water and nice to meet a new FWE. Had fun!

I gotta admit, it was good to get out there! I haven't had enough time on the water lately. Last year was a bust for me as far as fishing goes. It's been great to get back out and hook up with old friends and new as well!

It was almost comical. We we'd be casting in one direction for a while and hear the trout hitting behind us. Then we'd turn and cast the other way and the'd start hitting behind us again. Pretty soon we wised up and cast back to back, but then the fish would strike by our sides!
The fish were out there, they just didn't like what we had to offer!
