  • Finding a spot????

I'm new to searching for my own spot and would like to do so especially after all the advise I see on here , my question is how to tell where the shell reefs are or where deep mud is , stuff like that? Do you just get in the water and walk around till you find it or is there some thing to look for ? Mainly on google earth , what signs should I look for? I LOVE to fish but this does not do any good when I have no place to fish, and fishing in random spots and not catching anything is pretty discouraging ? I would greatly appreciate any advise on finding my own spot.
    Thanks

Start with a map, like one from Hook n Line and go from there.

Behind the State Park, south shoreline of Galveston is the most easily acessible place with a good bottom, and the trout are stacked right now---I know a few guides that don't like this advice. rs

After a cold front carefully take your boat out and look for exposed shell reefs. Use a PVC pipe to find the mud. One of the best things that can happen is for you to be hung up. That means there is structure to be found.

See, that is my problem... No boat, that's why I was asking about google maps. I'm stuck to the shorelines.

Even with no boat and being stuck to the shorelines. Start by getting the Wade fishing map from Hook n Line. Pick an area and get your feet wet and start learning. Some spots you pick can be learned pretty quick and others can take years to really and truly learn. The ones that take you the longest to learn are usually the best ones.

Yeah I have waders and I have been picking spots to go wade out in but it just seems that I am making uneducated guesses and not paying off, this is the first I have heard of a wading map but I am Definately going to pick one up.
