what kind of artificials are productive in the surf?!? top waters, soft plastics, spoons?!?
Yes,yes, and yes. Two foot or less swells , Se 5-10 MPH are ideal conditions. The fish are in the first gut early on and tend to move farther out as the sun rises about mid morning. move out to the second bar and fan cast. Usually the trout are running the guts , so casting parellel to the gut if possible is good. Look for bait and slicks and birds. Even seagulls standing on the beach looking out to the surf can be a sign that fish are there...but not actively feeding at the surface. No telling what you may catch in the surf.
