  • Not as Epic Surf Day- 08/04/14 Report

I wanted today yo be a repeat of yesterday. Once I got to the beach I was quivering in anticipation. Bait was already present and I could see the seagulls starting their dawn patrol. By sun up I had 3 trout on the stringer and with everything happening, I figured it was going to be on. Sun came up shrimp were popping, trout were busting...just not our topwaters. Had a few blow ups here or there but none connecting at that point. Switched to soft plastics and worked our way down going through school ie trout. My buddy ended up with 2 trout, I ended up with my limit to around 20 inches. It wasn't a grind per say, but it was definitely a 360 from yesterday most fish wee caught on a plumtruese assassin on a 1/8th oz jig. Bites were super subtle, but I managef.

Good catch jhua. It was few and mostly small fish down my way, but they did hit top waters. Just had to trickfark 'em!

Jonathan....I had to change to a suspending bait to keep the gulls off my topwater today. Still tangled up on one of the damn things. I couldn't get the trout to look at a top either. Sticking with the Mirrodyne tomorrow....it suspends just under the surface. Hope the wind and water hold out for JUST ONE MORE DAY!!!!! PLEASE LORD, PLEASE!!!!!

                        fishing slump

Man I guess I lost my groove. My uncle and I hit the beach at SS # 5/6 area on tues 8/5 the dawn patrol was lined up it looked like a week-end. We found an open area with bait and started out with tops then spoons then plastics only had a few bumps and no fish not even a dink. I started fishing with fishbites and redeemed the trip with some nice whitting. A guy down from us looked like he limited with shrimps and left so I walked down the beach and grinded his area with plastics and worked my way back down to our spot with only 2 bumps. I guess I forgot how to fish I used to fish 2-3 days a week now I'm lucky to get to go 2-3 a month.
