Made it down to SS 3 times last week! We went on Sunday the 2nd and struck out. Light wind, flat surf, but dirty water and no bites. I knew the water would clean up so we headed back down Monday. What a day! Water did clean up and it was one-after-another for a couple hours. Most were caught free-lining live shrimp in the 2nd gut. My buddy hoooked a FAT 24 in spec at first light on a topwater. I had my limit by the time the bite died, so we went to SLP and I caught 3 of his limit. ha ha
We went again Sunday the 9th. Flat surf, light wind, and the water was so gin clear I could see my feet in 5 ft of water. However, there was no bait in the water and NOTHING was biting. We through everything in the box at them and couldn't come up with one keeper. Is there such a thing as the surf being too clean?
