Caught some (4) today and it was beautiful out there. Had I not snagged a large ray in the tail with my spoon (which ended up costing me a lot of time) I think I would have had a couple more. All 4 were around 20"

By the way I do have pictures of the fish caught, as well as the &^%^(ing ray that cost me a lot of lost time (and now the need for a tetanus shot), but can't figure out how to post them.

Go to "Go Advanced", then to "Manage Attachments" and follow the instructions.

The ray got me indirectly so to speak. I had just strung two specs on successive casts and thought things were about to really heat up. I made a careless cast into the wind and had a pretty good line overrun. I stripped the overrun and when I began to reel there was something heavy on the other end that began stripping my line. At first I though maybe a jack, but then it stopped and was just dead weight that I couldn't budge. I tried my best to break the line at or close to the lure but couldn't as the object would give enough that I couldn't breakoff. I finally realized that I had probably foul hooked a ray and made the long walk back to shore with the ray in tow. On my way back to shore I took up most of my line to the reel and when I got close to the shore, instead of doing the smart thing and just cutting my line and losing my lure, I pulled the ray up on the sand. Right at that time a fellow who had just limited out about 60 yards to the right of me pulled up to have a word. I was still holding the rod and the line between the ray and me was still pulled taunt and all of a sudden the spoon pulled free, shot through the air and impaled one of its barbs in my thigh. So that's why I want to get a tetanus shotClick image for larger version

Watch that lure wound and if it gets red and hot, get to doctor immediately. I hate rays. Good fish ya caught (except the ray of course).

Ouchee! Exactly what Robalo said, don't fool around with any type or degree of redness, get to the doctor pronto! Vibrio is nothing to play around with!

No radiating redness; cleaned it immediately with the hydrogen peroxide I keep in the truck and got my tetanus shot at Walgreens today.

Walgreens? That's cool. What was the cost of the shot?

                            Nice fish BTW...

Around $65. Went to the LJ Urgent Care Place first, but that was gonna cost $210 for the office visit plus $123 for the shot. The receptionist there was very helpful and told me I could get it at Walgreen's for much less money and sure enough she was right.
