Fished the surf with a buddy last week during the window.

Water was sandy, not too much bait present, slipcorked live shrimp. First cast, bam, 26" trout. Pretty cool, I guess ya'll are right, they do come in this early! Easily the earliest I've caught surf trout.

Caught 3 specks from 22 to 26", 3 sheeps, and the catch of the day: 19" bluefish. Pretty rare to catch one, and 19" is about 3 times the size of the biggest I have caught here.

Triple Yankee Slam: 3 "spotted weakfish", 3 sheephead, and 3 bluefish

"Yankee Slam", too funny there. Weakies my Dad used to call them. The Blues are a
good catch if there are any size to them. We used to nail them to 10lbs +, up off the
coast of Rhode Island. Great fishing, but the seas can be brutal....

Blue runners are different from bluefish and I have not tried them.

Bluefish are good, just like spanish mackerel. Cut out the blood line, broil fresh and they are great.
