This coming weekend?

Iam looking to take a friend who has never fished before surf fishing this coming weekend down in Galveston somewhere. The only problem is after looking at the forecast, it appears the winds will be very bad at around 20-25 mph on Saturday but coming from the south/southeast, which is normally a good thing Ive read as far as water clarity.
What would be your experienced opinions on where to go or if we even should go at all this weekend?

When the winds are out of the S/SE, it's obviously a good thing. If they are over 15, I tend to stay bayside. If you're set on being in the surf, try a spot closer to a jetty or some kind of break. It'll help with the waves.

Try some bridge fishing. 2004,36 or kemah. Reds ave been showing up there. Also Bryan beach up the river can be a good place too.

Thats good advise there. I didn't realize the winds were gonna be up this weekend comming.
I'm finally getting out to Rollover Pass on the 15th and now I gotta deal with the wind.....
Bayside it will be then, or just hunker down behind the ole' lady.....lol

We're going regardless, gotta get out of the office\house, for a bit.
Sunday's are our only days to do something besides work, and do not live
close enough to go after work....As I said before, "Gotta move closer to that area"...

36 bridge I assume means hwy 36 bridge that comes into Galveston?
and when you say under light you mean at night or just in that area near the light?
And what is the best rig and technique for fishing a mirrodine in the river like that or anywhere else? Are they effective in the surf?

Just go to work this weekend and wait till Monday or Tuesday then the wind is sure to die down.

Yea well I dont work on weekends and I live too far away to make it down there during a weekday. Prolly gonna hit up some lakes near the Woodlands this weekend and try again next weekend.

Realestate? Not quite yet on that, but thank you all the same. As for the Tequila tho, heck yea man we can do that now.
I'm in a contract job at the moment for the next 8 months, then i'll be able to start looking south for another.
I work for AAA Storage, as a live-on-site manager, hence the contract.....
