What triggers the trout?

I was just curious as to what is the trigger that gets the trout running in the surf consistently? I am ready to get out there and have the trout start blowing up some topwaters. Is it water temperature that sets them off? a lunar thing?

What water temperature is ideal to get the surf action started up?

They know I'm about to make some gumbo!!!! They are returning to the bays and marshes to spawn, I think. There are some smarter guys than me on this site that can explain it better'n me.
