  • Surf fishing the Galveston Fishing Pier on 3-9-2012

Was a windy day out there and the reels were screaming all day long. I did manage 5 fish total that day.

The Black drum was 23" the Sheep head we right around 18-20 and then the 2 whiting. I also lost a big drum i was guessing was about 29 when it broke my hook. It was a brand new hook also.

Caught them all on jumbo white dead shrimp from tuckers. The white shrimp are running big with him right now. The wind was so bad i kept not hearing my reels screaming at me until i looked down and by then it was too late.

Live crawfish work for Drum too ..... seriously ... and they are cheaper than crab at times

                Nice work.

A piece of dead shrimp is what I use for eating-sized drum, sheephead, and slot reds in the surf. For targeting oversized in the ship channel, I use a crab half or crawfish.
