  • Surf 8/19

Hit the surf at beach access 7 this morning. Was there about an hour and left with 6 keepers 15" to 22". All caught on tops. The people next to me fishing live shrimp limited out. Work was calling me so I had to leave.

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. I had a lil luck with topwaters this morning but it was sporadic...my cousin fished popping cork and live shrimp and landed an 18 1/2 inch trout but a bunch of dinks otherwsie. It was my first topwater experience...never really tried them. It for sure was exciting! Had some nice hits...had a couple of skip jacks (I was told that's what they were at least) hit my topwater...first one lit my lure up and in mid flight broke off my brand new Top Dog..that hurt. Second one took me for a nice ride til he finally wore down. Water conditions were nice once again...rollers with a lil chop and water was pretty clear. I threw out my electric chicken and only got the whiting to hit...caught a small pompano on a nuclear chicken shrimp. It was an entertaining day...I look forward to some more topwater adventures...it's fun to watch them attack.
