    Here are some poppers I tied up for last fall and they process of painting them. As Tidalguide says the fish have to be in the mood, but when they are it is probably the most exciting and best way to catch reds!

      Thanx for the pics that one on the bottom right look like a killer!
      Never tied a fly before but I see how to do it I think from your picture!
      coat plug and let dry tail side down
      insert hook with glue
      coat plug and let dry tail side up for even coverage
      Apply eyes and dots and tie the tail on
      Sound close? Did you make the body or purchase it?

        Bought the bodies - just the normal white ones that come with hooks (I replace the hooks). Paint them a few times until the color sticks. Then stick the eyes on and cover with a few coats of varnish. Once dry force over shank of hook and glue - I use epoxy. Again once dry tie the tail on. A bit of a labour of love and you can probably buy better, cheaper but always nice to catch on your own flies.
