I went again to sabine on friday flounder fishing . It was sunny , up to 66 degrees , water was 60 degrees , outgoing tide until about noon then incoming , wind se then south in the afternoon 12-15 mph i estimate , water was tea color with a little green , about 9 inches of visibility . I fished a different area than last week which turned out to be less productive . Only one flounder .

I went back around 10:30 am to where i fished last friday . The water wasn't as clear as last friday and the area didn't seem as " alive " as last week , although i did see flounder jumping out of the water all day periodically . I saw gulls working last week but not this time . I caught another flounder but it just wasn't happening for me . I finally got bright enough to change out my 1/4 ounce jig for a 1/8 ounce jig and just made one complete crack of the reel handle and pause . The bait would pop up and settle down slowly . It made all the difference . I started catching flounder but at a slow rate . The fish weren't as big as last week . This time they were all fairly uniform in size , 14-17 inches , maybe one 13 inch .

As you can see in the previous set of pictures it was getting late in the day but i caught those last three fish fairly quickly , the evening bite was on i guess . If i had not explored the new area in the morning i think i would have had my 10 fish limit instead of 8 .

          END

As usual the ramp was busy when i came back and i dragged my kayak out of the way with much gutteral noise and huffing and puffing . I guess i look pretty pathetic and needy as this time and last time i had guys come up and help me pick up the kayak to place it on the bed extender which was appreciated . Louisiana folk are nice .

Nuclear chicken it is then . You ought to take him to Sabine next weekend for a safari . The boat guys fish farther south down the ship channel , just follow the boats . I've asked where they fish but I don't recognize any of the location names as they casually wave their arm in the direction of the channel . You can get a one day license printed off your computer to allow a Louisiana launch and creel limit .

It is amazing and fun to watch what a change of retrieve will do. It's just that most of us dont do that...you always post a great trip report and pics. Keep them coming and congrats on the flounder catches!

                    Great report Henry.
All your flounder are thick. Best time of year as they are putting on weight for the long trip to the Gulf.
The current must have been light for you to switch to the 1/8oz.

Yes , Dale . I'm fishing in 2 1/2 feet of water although at current peaks I can see my line move down current .
