Do you whant a yac are boatOriginally posted by micklitz View PostTo each his own. However, it doesn't make sense to me to sacrifice storage space, comfort, and stability for the ability to move in 3" of water.
It is 3", get out and pull it over a ridge/reef or whatever.
3", It doesn't even make it over your ankle.
I walk through deeper water when it rains!

What????????????????
What keeper game fish do you catch surrounded by 3" of water.Originally posted by Jhua View PostWell I do... like it was said, it depends on what your method/ style for fishing. If you fish shallow flats or marshes, you may want to look at models that can go through 3'' of water. If you fish deep reefs, it may not matter so much.

Above is ~3"

Well I am going to let jhua answer this one. I have caught a few in shallow water but I am sure jhua has a better answer her.Originally posted by micklitz View PostHow much of a 20" red would be out of the water in said scenario?
How many keeper redfish have you caught surrounded by such water? (not in 2 feet of water casting at a shoreline)

there are plenty of days i have to get super skinny in the marsh to get to the deeper lake or bayou farther back exspecialy if its winter & the water is blown out... sometimes its 50 yards or more. if i can drift in 3" instead of drag that distance my day just got 10 times better. id like to see you drag that PA loaded with the kitchen sink in some of the spots i go to sometimes.
dont get me wrong the PA is a great yak but not for shallow marsh fishing. it is better sooted for water deeper than 2' with the mirage drive. you add the turbo fins & that thing is sweet. i have even heard of storys when a boat breaks down & the PA tows them in.

If you are going to stay out all day and venture out past the "marsh" next to the boat ramp (3-7 miles), you want to make sure you have everything you want.Originally posted by Galveston340....since I don't "Yak" fish i have to ask why you would want to carry anything other than two rods, a cooler that holds maybe a six pack, and a small duffel for lures and other stuff?
Seems to me that the less you carry the less draft...right?
You can't just make a quick trip back to the house or ramp.
