I've started stringing them while held down on the gig, i knew this one was on there good and easy to hold down on the gig with that one hand and string it with the other so I lifted it out of the water. Exceptional advice though I never thought to stand on the tail, they are always splashing water in my face

Stand on the tail with your Right foot. That gives you the best angle. The lower jaw will be facing you.Originally posted by Quackiller View PostI've started stringing them while held down on the gig, i knew this one was on there good and easy to hold down on the gig with that one hand and string it with the other so I lifted it out of the water. Hope that helps.

Ok , Dale , I don't gig so help me out here . If the fish is facing right as on the video , to step on the tail with your right foot would seem ackward as you would have to twist your body around to the right to access the head . Why not step on the tail with your left foot ? If the fish is facing left , step on the tail with the right foot .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. Ok , you step on the tail with the right foot and move your body so your left foot is below the lower jaw.
Makes it really easy to run the stringer through the lower jaw or through the gill and out the mouth
depending on your preference.
