  • Flats by San Luis

Anyone ever gig the flats on the east side of San Luis pass? I'm making a light and looking for a good spot for my first gigging trip. I've fished over there before and caught flounder and was thinking it looked clear and certainly shallow enough for it.
    Thanks

Oh yeah , it's a big time gigging spot . I've fished there until twilight and giggers have passed me on their way out .

No, there's no flounder there. No one gigs there either. The rays are sized 5' foot across, and blanket the bottom.
Nope bad juju to go there...

It's best to go to Chocolate to go gigging, um, but there's NFIC.

What he said! Also worth noting there are mosquitoes the size of DC3s. Don't go there. Nothing to see....

On Saturday afternoon somebody's white truck was way out on the flats when the tide came in.(water up to his headlights) Not sure if he was out Fri. night gigging and didn't realize the tide was getting that high or what (possibly alcohol induced stupidity). There were also several vehicles parked with their wheels wet. With the high tides we have been having you better park a long way from the water if it is low tide when you go out on the SLP flats.

I love Surfside, but it may have the lowest tooth to tatoo ratio of all towns in the lower 48. To be honest RC's T/TT is ok (as far as I know), but he can be a little scary when he sports that TalibanMan beard. I am with Moonpie about the Jetty Shack. Went in there one time and I was the most slender person in there (regardless of gender) AND THAT'S NOT EASY!

That might apply to the inbreds on the Salty Texan site, just sayin.
