Budget boat build

I drug the boat up to the shop today and pulled the motor back off. I clamped it down to the welding table and cranked away. After some trial and error I got the chain hoist right in line and pulling with all it's might. There's literally tons of force pulling right inline and the lower unit is still stuck and I'm stumped. If nothing else something should have broken by now. I'm going home to get drunk. I left it on the table so my coworkers can see it on monday. Hopefully one of them will find the bolt I missed or have a good idea. If not it's going on a pallet and on Craigslist to new victim.. err owner. I'll save some pennies and look for a new motor in a few months. In the meantime I still have a gastank to build and some wiring to keep me busy. I made a crappy video for everyone's amusement.

A lot of us like to work on our boats, cars, etc.. We enjoyed and leans / share ideas through post such as yours. Thanks for posting I know it takes time and effort that could be spent elsewhere but we truly appreciate your efforts.

Man thats a bummer,I hate to give in, At some point it becomes nessasry to look at all the options and seek some profesional advice,if nothing else,I feel your pain.......Advice is cheap and might set you on the right path,I suggest private consult with Mister Evans ,he might have a look and see somsething that could help you otherwise C&D pays top prices and will do it in 2dollar bills! Im gonna hit some rum on this end! just a bump in the road bro!

you can try leaving it under pressure. In a few days it might come lose. Sometimes you have to do that when removing flywheels...

Sorry to hear it still won't budge. I'll try to get there early tomorrow morning to look at it with you. Did you spray some penetrating oil on the shaft while it was upsidedown?

Thanks man, glad to do it. I spent years building rockcrawlers and I spent hours looking at build threads for inspiration and ideas to R&D (rip off and duplicate). By now I was hoping to be posting pictures of the boat on the water catching fish but hey there can be no disappointment without expectation so that's on me. Funny how it's always the simple things that toss a wrench in your works. I went out before dinner a while back with the intention of popping the lower unit off real quick, so I could change the water pump after dinner. Oh well I knew I rolled the dice on a cheap motor, very glad I waited on spending the money getting the motor running until I changed the pump.
