When it starts bogging down-then replace it-otherwise, you'll be spending lotsa $ on filters. At least once or twice a year even if no bogging down-they rust and will leak over a few months.

Yep-your boat is in my lift-please add fuel treatment, fill the tank and check the 2 cycle level!! I bet ya didn't know your boat is a skeeter!!! (and leave a few qts of live shrimp in my bait barrel in the boathouse-plug in the aerator also to keep them alive for me)!!!
Also, use netting on your mater plants-that is the only way to stop the grackles and mockingbirds from eatin your maters!!!"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. I just want to make sure I really need to put Stabil and Ring free in every tank! That will become very expensive every time I have to fill up.

It don't take much when adding the Stabil-a bottle should last several tanks-I don't use Ring Free-figure just add a pint or maybe two of 2 stroke oil to tank-not too much-depends on tank size. But, yes add each time ya fill her up."Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. I have a different opinion than most, but I cannot justify buying high dollar TCW-3. TCW-3 is designed to be burned up in the cylinder and exhausted, so yes there are some sales pitches and "additives" that increase performance. I agree with this somewhat, but Yamalube is no better than a lot of the cheaper oils. Its just a marketing pitch, IMO.
I have never been a pennzoil fan, so I do not buy it. Just a personal preference. I personally run Citgo Oil in the black jug, purchased at academy for around 8 dollars a gallon. I have only had my boat a year, but no problems yet. My friend has a boat that they have been running that for the past 16 years, the motor is a 1993 and its on its original powerhead, pistons, rings and jugs, great compression and zero problems associated with poor TCW-3.
Now, for an oil that is in the crank of an engine or lower unit (4 stroke oils) yes, I would buy quality oil. But something that lubricates for seconds and burns off in the cylinder, I would not get too carried away with high dollar products. Proper maintenance and servicing is much more effective and cost efficient.
This is just my opinion. I think you will be fine with just about any oil out there.
Good luck and good fishing!

I agree with MM-I use Citgo (not politically correct since Chavez runs it) and used to fill 5 gallon gas cans from my brother's shop outta the 55 gallon drum of 2 cycle. TCW-3 is a grading system and Majek is 100% correct-it burns up and goes away. I do not mix brands and "heard" that can cause some sludging/changing due to some having additives and some not, so whatever ya add, be consistent is my 2 cents.
Explorer21: Don't add tekillya to yur tank, bring it over and we'll find a use for it!!!!! I mix that with limes and grand marnier over crushed ice in a 'tini glass (chilled of course) and SALT."Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. After much thinking and all the advice, I am going to stick with Yamalube. I know it is expensive, but so was my new rig! As for the additives, I am still trying to figure that one out. More then likely I will use the Yahama ring free product, but still thinking about that.

WOW, I did not think I would receive this many options and suggestions. My brain is fried and I am just thinking about putting tequila in the fuel tank and a german lager in the oil tank!
