I borrowed a truck today to pick up some plywood for my redecking project and the selection at Home Depot in Alvin was horrible. I left empty handed. Even for Home Depot it was bad. The 1/2" pressure treated was moldy and mostly voids and knots. The 3/4" was better but I didn't want to add the extra weight unnecessarily. Does anyone know of a good lumber yard I can get some good 1/2" pressure treated plywood from? Also just because I don't know any better why can't I just use some cheap OSB? Since it'll be coated in resin does it matter? I don't mind spending the extra bucks to do it right but honestly my primitive caveman brain can't see the difference once it's glassed in.

You don't want to use treated plywood. You want to use marine plywood and it can be purchased at Kemah hardwareOriginally posted by Overkiller View PostI borrowed a truck today to pick up some plywood for my redecking project and the selection at Home Depot in Alvin was horrible. or Kilgores in League City. If you have a good lumber yard in your area they can probably order it if they don't have it in stock.

Gator is correct its about the glue they use & treated wood wont glass as well and if its a glass boat you wouldn't go back with aluminum because your floor is a stressed part of the boat and aluninum wouldnt hold the fiberglass anyway!San leon marine had regular old style glass and resin at pretty good prices also gelcoat!West Bay Sensai...

OK I thought pressure treated was the way to go. I'll head over to Kemah this weekend and see how painful the marine stuff is. It is a glass boat but thanks for the heads up on cheap aluminum, it'll come in handy for other projects. When I grow up I want to be, One of the harvesters of the sea. I think before my days are done, I want to be a fisherman.

Around $60 a sheet for 3/8 is what I paid last year. Ouch!!

Pressure treated plywood will work just fine for your project. Just make sure it is dry before you put it in place. Resin and glass will stick to it very well. I don't think OSB is a good way to go, and marine plywood is too expensive, imo.
