  • tilt trim issues

I got a '95 40 hp yamaha with a few problems with the tilt trim. The biggest problem is that it is pretty slow to lift the motor up. Its really only slow in the bottom 1/2 of lifting if that makes sense. It kinda seems to get a little stuck, and it seems to help if i give it a little tug up. I'm not sure if the trim motor is going out, or if it is just low on fluid. The seals on the smaller two rams do leak a little.

    My questions are:

Which bolt do I check the fluid level at?

How difficult is it to change the seals on the two smaller rams?

Bring it by and let me check it I won't charge you to check it out. I will give you a quote and see if you want to do it. There are several factors than can cause your issue, so it needs to be checked out before I can tell you the problem.

I had both seals changed on my 175hp yahmaha vmax about two months ago and it ran me about 200.00.

I think my jackplate fuse or something is going out. I will lose power to the ignition and the tilt/trim, but electronics work. I can jiggle the fuse and it will start working again. Dunno, probably just a fuse. I should get off my arse and go get one. Venting about my issue as well.
