For a measley 3 bucks you CAN launch (roundtrip) at Lutes. Your vehicle is safe since the store is open 5:30 am till sundown and Barbara ,as well as I, live onsite and let me tell ya "Hell Hath no Fury like Barbara when someone is messing around her customers property". She is a good aim to boot!
Bring an RV why not make it a weekend! 281-393-1021 Lutes

I can't go Thursday. I went today but all ready had a full boat. Chip will most likely post up a report later today.

            Fishn Chocolate

I too have recently started fishing chocolate and found that it is a challenge. I usually go alone in a little 16J skiff and enjoy exploring different shallow areas. I have already nicked my prop on an underwater reef but that is just part of the game. Nothing Mike Hood can't fix. What I've mostly learned so far is the limitations and advantages of this little boat and running extremely shallow is a BIG plus for this area.

Fish arn't just jumping into your net here as compared to some spots in the east bay areas and so far I have enjoyed the challenge but it does get discouraging. I'm trying to learn to read the signs, birds, water motion, bait on top etc. to become better at landing a keeper but so far I have returned empty stringer.

Best of all, the ppl I run across are extremely helpful and just some of the best ppl I have ever met. I look forward to meeting more of you at the dock. I do need to take up offers to tag up and being shown around but most of the time I'm a spontainious fisherman, I don't know I have time to go until I'm hooking up to the truck.

Advise from a newby: Stick with it for a season before you cast judgement or give up on chocolate. I have 1 month down, 11 to go

As far as Kayaks at Lute's; I have seen somebody there either putting in or pulling out each time I have been there (twice). I thought it was a regular thing there. They fish up-bayou from Lutes.

google earth has a great image of chocolate. Its not the current image, but one taken back around 08. You can use the tool bar to check old images. It really help me how to run around the bay.

Here's a link to a very nice Google map with fishing & boating info listed. I've been using it a lot.
