Heading to choc bayou for first time

I'm heading to choc bayou for the first time. If I wanna launch up the bayou, where is the best place to launch... horshoe bend or other?
Also, if staying up in the bayou (avoiding the bay) is there much hazards to watch out for? Reefs, etc.. up the bayou.

You can launch at Lutes marina and they are great people to meet. You can get live bait, ice, beer, etc... If you stay in the bayou stay in the main channel and fish the edges and you should be fine. Be patient as the fish are there, but it is slow going this time of year. It is going to be low out there so stay in the channel or go slow for your first trip. Let us know how you do.

If you decide to launch at Horseshoe, the ramp is steep and when it gets wet from lots of traffic or ice it is a pain to get out of unless you have 4 wheel drive. It also cost $5.00, which is nothing considering your truck is safer there, than at the bridge.
